COVID-19 Announcement, March 23, 2020

Dear Valued Donors

As part of Diabetes Canada’s ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of our valued donors, staff, partners and communities, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily suspend all collection activities of National Diabetes Trust. This means that the collection of ALL textile donations from homes and bins across Canada has stopped, effective immediately.

Please do NOT to drop off items at our donation bins as we are unable to collect them at this time. As life gets back to normal and we resume service, please keep us in mind and contact us at for a home pick-up or to locate a drop-off donation bin near you.

At Diabetes Canada, our goal, as always, is to support those living with diabetes and prediabetes and to make a positive impact in our local communities. We rely on your generous charitable clothing donations as a crucial source of revenue that supports diabetes research, sends kids with Type 1 to diabetes camp and sustains our efforts to end the fight against diabetes. Additionally, more than 100 million pounds of textiles are also diverted from landfills annually.

Our thoughts are with those who have been affected, and we greatly appreciate the dedication of Canada's first responders and those helping to keep essential services available to us all.

An open letter from Diabetes Canada to Canada's mayors and municipalities

We need your help to clear garbage and soiled textiles from our donation bin sites.

While we appreciate the generosity and intention of Canadians to support people living with diabetes, we do not have the resources to collect the items being left by our donation bins. This has resulted in excess waste around our donation bins.

Please send a message to your mayor or local councillor asking them to clear the garbage from your streets and around charitable donation bins.  Download this message and email them today, or share a link to on your social channels.
